There are many animals that have long lifespans, some of which can live for several decades or even centuries. Here is a list of animals with the longest lifespans.

1).Greenland Shark

Also known as the grey shark or the gurry shark, the Greenland shark is a species of shark that can live for over 400 years, making it one of the longest-lived animals in the world.

These greenland sharks are slow-moving, typically swimming at rates of less than 3 km( about 1.98 miles) per hour. They are carnivorous, and their deit is often made up of different types of fishes, including smaller sharks, eels, flounders, and sculpins.


2). Giant Tortoise

The islands were once thought to be home to at least 250,000 tortoises, only about 15,000 remains in the wild today.

Some species of giant tortoise can live for over 150 years. The oldest recorded giant tortoise was Adwaita, who lived to be over 250 years old.


3). Red Sea Urchin

Red sea urchin are found in the pacific ocean, from the coast of Alaska and the Aleutian islands to Baja California in the east, and in the west, from siberia to the northern reaches of Japan. This is the largest species of sea urchin, and can grow to be 18 cm daimeter with spine lengths of 8 cm. Sea urchin are omnivorous, but mostly eat leafy algae.

4). Bowhead Whale

The bowhead whale is a species of baleen whale belonging to the family Balaenidae and is the only living representative of the genus Balaena. Bowhead need to eat 100 tonnes of food annually.

Some species of Galapagos tortoise can live for over 150 years.


6). Koi Fish

Koi fish, a type of ornamental fish, can live for over 100 years if well-cared for. Koi or more specifically nishikigoi, are colored varieties of the Amur carp that are kept or decorative purposes in outdoor koi ponds or water garden. 

Nishikigoi is known as the " swimming jewwl". In japanese culture, koi fish are often kept since they symbolize luck, prosperity, and good fortune. A koi fish was first displayed in tokyo in 1914- propelling their popularity around japan.

Koi is one of the strongest living creatures in the water, and can swin vigorously even in cold pond.


7). Giant Clam


Giant clams, a type of mollusk, can live for over 100 years.

A giant clam can grow as long as 4.5 feet and weigh as much as 550 pounds. It has a thick, heavy shell with fluted, or curved edges. Soft tissue, or mantle, inside its shell, displays a pattern and mixture of colours such as yellow, green, iridescent blue, and purple.

The gianr clams are indeed known to produce such pearls but only a few are recognised by gemelogists.


8). Blue Whale

The blue whale, the largest animal on Earth, has a lifespan of about 80-90 years.

The whale is marine mammal and a baleen whale. Reaching a maximum confirmed lenght of 29.9 meters and weighing up to 199 tonnes, it is the largest animal known to have ever existed. 

Sadly there are only about 10,000 to 25,000 blue whales left in the world today. Though it may sound like a large number, this is incredibly low.



9).Afrian Elephant

African elephants have a lifespan of about 70 years in the wild and can live even longer in captivity.

This elephants are a genus comprising two living elephant species, the African bush elephants and the smaller African forest elephant. Both are herbivores with grey skin, but differ in size and colour of their tusks and in the shape and size of their ears and skulls. As herbivores, they spend much of their days foraging and eating grass, leaves, bark, fruits. They need to eat about 300 pounds of vegetation every day.

These elephants are found in 23 countries and live in a variety of habitats, from open and wooded savannas to even some deserts and forests.



10). Macaw

Macaws are a group of new world parrots that are long-tailed and often colorful. size range of this parrot is from 30 cm ( 12 in. ).

Many macaw parrots mimic parrots mimic human speech. Some macaw parrots, like the blue-and-gold macaw, are known to learn phrases more easily than others.

Some species of macaw is mainly found in the southwestern parts of country where it occupies forests and shrublands, this can live for over 50 years.
